SADD Founder Speaks to Students and Parents around the Triad About Being Safe & Sober
Bob Anastas, Founder and former Executive Director of SADD (Students Against Driving Drunk) spoke to the student body of Western Alamance High School on April 22nd, then a mixed crowd of parents and teens at Maple Springs Church on the 23rd.
Anastas, an All-American athlete, former coach, winner of a Teacher of the Year award, and National Merit Award of Education winner, presented his "Check In To A Winning Life" speech as a part of Lewis & Daggett's "Safe Sober Prom Night" campaign.

The program addressed how teenagers battle not only peer-pressure related alcohol use, but also how drug use and increasingly immature views of today's decisions can have a significant impact on life as an adult.
Anastas has frequently stated that "...drinking illegally and driving drunk are just two forms of high-risk behavior students exhibit - two symptoms of a deeper cause. That cause is rooted in declining life skills of self-discipline, self-esteem, motivation, maturity, and leadership."
At the conclusion of these events, students and parents were given the opportunity to sign "contracts", if they so chose, to honor both a responsible prom night and promise to ask for help from responsible adults, no questions asked, in order to keep themselves safe and have hope for a brighter future.
