2009 Men's All-Star Basketball Rosters
NCCA East-West All-Star Game
Twenty of the state’s top male basketball seniors have accepted invitations to participate in the 61st NCCA East-West All-Star Game to be played in the Greensboro Coliseum on Monday, July 20, 2009. Eleven NCPreps.com All-State selections, two of them also AP All-State selections, are expected to play.
C.J. Harris, a 6-3 guard from Winston-Salem’s Mount Tabor High, is expected to play for the West team. An AP and NCPreps.com All-State selection and a Wake Forest signee, Harris averaged 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead Mount Tabor to the Class 4A state championship. Expected to join him are fellow NCPreps.com All-State selections Wakefield Ellison from Asheville High and an East Carolina University signee, Eric Mayo from Shelby High and AP All-State 2nd team selection, Josh Pittman from East Lincoln High, and K.J. Sherrill from West Rowan High.
The East team will counter with 5 All-State selections of its own. Camden County High’s Ricky Krainiak, a Campbell University signee, Topsail High’s Candon Rusin, a Marist signee, Terry Sanford High’s Zach Faircloth, D.H. Conely High’s Jaron Lane, and Nash Central High’s Trey Sumler, all NCPrep.com All-State selections, are expected to play in the all-star game. Knightdale High’s Stan Okoye, a VMI signee, is also expected to play.
Head coach David Dewey of South Johnston High will lead the East team, and head coach Howard West of Reagan High will lead the west team. The East won last year’s competition 99-93 to tie the all-time series 30-30.

Women’s Basketball Standouts Named for
NCCA East-West All-Star Game
Twenty of the state’s top female basketball seniors have accepted invitations to participate in the 35th NCCA East-West All-Star Game to be played in the Greensboro Coliseum on Monday, July 20, 2009 (6:30 tipoff). Twelve NCPrep.com All-State selections, six of them also AP All-State selections, are expected to play in the all-star game.
West Charlotte High’s Christal Caldwell and Stateville High’s Keyrra Gillespie, both NCPrep.comp and AP 1st team All-State selections, are expected to play for the West team. A University of Florida signee, Caldwell averaged 17 points per game her senior season, leading West Charlotte High to its first state championship. Gillespie, who averaged 14 points and 10 assists her senior season at Statesville High, has signed with Clemson University. They will be joined by AP All-State 2nd team selections Anna Freeman of East Davidson High, Eleisha Hairston of Reidsville High, and Nikki Burton of West Charlotte High. Parkland High’s Jazmin Cromartie, Butler High’s Celeste Stewart, and Dudley High’s Helen Terry, all fellow NCPrep.com All-State selections, are also expected to play.
The East is expected to counter with five NCPreps.com All-State selections of its own, including AP All-State first team selection Asia Williams. A Wake Forest University signee, Williams averaged 21 points per game for Durham Hillside her senior season. Expected to join her are fellow NCPreps.com All-State selections LaKevia Boykin of Southeast Raleigh High, Kelsey Evans of Wakefield High, and Southview High teammates Amber Calvin and Jazmine Cooper.
Head coach Jamie Willoughby of Tarboro High will lead the East team, and head coach Ken Beaty of Forestview High will lead the West. The West won last year’s competition 75-73, but the East leads the all-time series 19-15.
